Despite naysayers claiming that she wouldn't forge a successful country music career following the commercial failure of her last pop album, Jessica Simpson has found herself a U.S. hit with her new country song 'Come On Over', which cracked the top 30 on Billboard's country singles chart this week - and it's gaining momentum.

Simpson's last album, 'A Public Affair', failed to capitalize on the success of her previous album, which was released while she was starring in the MTV reality show, 'Newlyweds', with ex-husband Nick Lachey.

Tom Baldrica, Vice president of Sony BMG Nashville, was one of the initial skeptics of Simpson's cross-over to country music, but has now changed his tune.

"The best way to sum this up is what program directors have been telling our promotions staff: 'I really wanted to hate this record, and I don't. I love this.'," he told CNN.

Rating: 3

Jessica's blue maxi dress with denim jacket? Why, not? It kinda gets a little breezy in the evenings in L.A. What she really needs is to go have her roots touched up.
