JoJo’s real name is Joanna Noëlle Blagden Levesque.
She grew up in a one-bedroom apartment in a low-income family.
Her father sings as a hobby and her mother sang in a church choir and was trained in musical theater. Her parents divorced when she was three.
She was given a spot on Kids Say the Darnest Things: On The Road to Boston where she performed Aretha Franklin’s Respect.
The Oprah Winfrey Show soon contacted the child wonder and invited her to perform.
And the rest, as they say, is history.
