In January 1985, robbers ransacked Fran Drescher's Los Angeles apartment and raped her and a friend at gunpoint. It took her many years to overcome this ordeal, and it took her even longer to admit this to the press. She was paraphrased as saying in an interview with Larry King that although it was a very negative experience, she found ways to turn her experience into something positive. In her book Cancer Schmancer, she is quoted to have said, "My whole life has been about changing negatives into positives." She saw her rapist sent to prison.

One might ask what is wrong with Fran's outfit, she looks decent and she seems to have followed the basic rule- black bag with black purse. Fashion is a very tricky business, just because you are wearing black doesn't automatically mean it's classy. It has to have taste, character and it has to match or blend with the outfit. It has to be one, not one fighting for attention. Not an outfit that has so many details and colors that each can already have separate representations. So just because she looks safe doesn't mean it's fine. Fran might think that she is dressing just appropriately for her age, but it isn't just all that. The outfits just totally grosses me out, like a two-week old pizza with maggots.
