On the heels of her latest PR nightmare with car accidents, cocaine, and pictures of her passed out in the front seat of a car, there was a bizarre footnote to the latest chapter of the life of Lindsay Lohan when a strange series of photos of Lo and a woman later identified as Vanessa Minnillo playing with knives hit the internet last week. The photos taken in June of last year were leaked to the internet last week and they show Vanessa Minnillo and Lindsay Lohan playing with knives and pulling at each others' tops. Now, Vanessa Minnillo feels pretty bad about the photos, probably partially due to how much drama Lindsay Lohan has gotten herself into in the past year while Vanessa has gotten her life together with boyfriend Nick Lachey.
A source tells Us Weekly that Vanessa Minnillo "got caught up in the moment and thought it would be fun. It was stupid and she regrets it. They were only fooling around." The magazine notes that before the photos of Lindsay Lohan pointing a knife at her neck were released by celebrity photo agency X17 that Vanessa Minnillo "had a fairly unblemished image. These photos show how so many young celebrities, especially female ones, in Hollywood can get caught up in bad circumstances."
Vanessa Minnillo could probably use the career jolt, even if it's not the kind of scandal the good girl is usually associated with. Vanessa Minnillo was the host of MTV's Total Request Live, but announced in April that she was leaving the position and was a correspondent on Entertainment Tonight, but her contract was not renewed this spring. Minnillo is still the guest designer for Flirt! cosmetics, which will be sold at Kohl's this August. Vanessa Minnillo also has a two-line part in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
The editor of Us Weekly thinks that Vanessa Minnillo can bounce back from knifegate with Lindsay Lohan, saying, "We live in an age when it seems that all young women who make mistakes are bulletproof. The whole tenor of Hollywood has changed. With Vanessa, all the sudden, those who didn't know her, know exactly who she is. If celebrity is based on heat and attention, these pictures have her name on the tips of people's tongues." The editor also notes that dating someone as famous as Nick Lachey doesn't hurt, saying, "She has always been someone who was on the radar. The right coupling can turn a low-level celebrity into a top-level celebrity."
