Love triangle brings shape, sense and sparkle to the story of Coco Chanel’s early life.

Before Chanel as we know it, a determined young orphan name Gabrielle was brought to an orphanage by an indifferent father with her sister Adrienne. Fast forward 15 years later, Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel is living in Paris, working as a seamstress by day and a cabaret dancer by night.

This begins the timeless and legendary saga of the woman who would then create an icon of luxury French fashion that is Chanel. Drected by Anne Fontaine and starring Audrey Tautou, ‘Coco Before Chanel’ is a gorgeous film about the amazing journey on a nondescript woman who would later become the symbol of elegance, power and success.

Behind this movie is a talented and award winning crew. The director of photography is Christophe Beaucarne (Paris, Paint or Make Love); the production designer is Olivier Radot (The Lover), and Alexandre Desplat (Academy Award nominee for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and The Queen) composed the score. With this film given the support of Maison CHANEL, it is sure to be one amazing and inspiring saga. To miss it would be unfashionable!

‘Coco Before Chanel’ is out on September 18.

“The best color in the whole world is the one that looks good, on you!” – Coco Chanel

The Confessions of a Shopaholic

Went to see Isla Fisher’s movie Confessions of a Shopaholic and I was very disappointed to find out it only made $15, 054,00 for three days. It’s not even a bad movie. I can totally relate, not with maxing credits cards and huge debts but shopping, most definitely! Guilty.

The outfits were not as fab as The Devil Wears Prada but maybe it was to drive home the point that no matter how much you shop, if you don’t have it, you’re clueless? Ahem.

The purple ruffle number was so Lanvin. Reminded me of the red Lanvin frock Natalie Portman wore to the Darjeeling Premiere in 2007. Love it.

Shopaholics unite, take a break from shopping and watch this movie and learn to dance the Isla way.

Zac and Matthew Movie Much Like Keanu and Robert Flick

17again.jpg

It wasn’t his first film, but it was the first movie I recalled seeing Keanu Reeves, albeit on Cable. He played Mick Riley, the 17-year-old version of Michael Riley (the late Robert Urich). Michael just turned 40 and wasn’t happy with the way his life turned out and the happiest time he could remember was when he was 17 and he was in love with then girlfriend Laura. An “angel” he meets on a bus makes his wish come true. He gets down from the bus transformed back to when he was 17. He goes back to his hometown and finds Laura (Lindsay Wagner) a widow with two kids and realizes the reason why they broke up years ago. In the end, Mick is willing to face who he is and has a new start with Laura when he turns back to a middle age man.

Fast forward to 2008 and a new film, ” 17 Again” is in the works with Matthew Perry as Mike(!) O’Donnel and Zac Efron as the 17-year-old Mike O’Donnel. Similarly, the adult Mike isn’t happy with the way his life has become (he is separated from his wife, his career at a pharmaceutical company is at a stand still, and his relationships with his teenage children are nonexistent). Driving home, he sees the mysterious janitor standing on the ledge about to jump into the river. Mike rushes out of his car to rescue him, but the janitor has vanished. He falls into the river, instead and surfaces as his 17 year old self. He goes back to high school and through his experiences, realizes that he had chosen the perfect life but just never appreciated it. Thus, needs to figure out a way to transform back into his older self and won back his wife and kids.

So is 17 Again a remake? Or simply a rehashed script? Hmm…
Well, Robert Urich and Keanu Reeves certainly looked more alike than Matthew Perry and Zac Efron ever would.

‘Four Christmases’ Thankful for $31.7M

Thanksgiving weekend proved to be good for the Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn comedy “Four Christmases,” which debuted at No. 1 with $31.7 million, according to studio estimates on Sunday.
The Warner Bros. flick that features Witherspoon and Vaughn as a couple who suffer through four separate family holiday gatherings, raised a total of $46.7 million since it opened on Wednesday.
Revenue-wise, it was Hollywood’s second-biggest Thanksgiving period ever. The top 12 movies took in $223.7 million from Wednesday to Sunday, trailing only the $232.2 million haul over Thanksgiving in 2000.
Summit Entertainment’s vampire romance “Twilight,” which had a huge No. 1 opening the previous weekend, took a big 62 percent decline from its $69.6 million debut and was neck-and-neck for second place with Disney’s animated family film “Bolt.”
According to Sunday’s estimates, “Bolt” had a slight lead with $26.6 million for the weekend, compared to $26.4 million for “Twilight.” Rankings could, nonetheless, change once final numbers are released today, Monday.
“Twilight’ is still a phenomenon, but you can’t really maintain that level of intensity week after week,” said Paul Dergarabedian, president of box-office tracker Media By Numbers.
“Twilight” raised its 10-day total to $119.7 million, while “Bolt” lifted its sum to $66.9 million.
Hollywood typically releases a handful of holiday-themed movies starting in November, but “Four Christmases” has the market all to itself this season.
“It was the perfect time. It’s the only movie out there that deals with Christmas,” said Dan Fellman, head of distribution for Warner Bros.
The only potential competition of the said move will come yet on Dec. 12 with the John Leguizamo tale “Nothing Like the Holidays.”

Waitin’ for Twilight

Read the book series, all four of ‘em, and can’t wait to watch the movie. It’s no wonder fans waited in line as long as 12 hours for Twilight vamp star Robert Pattinson the other day at the Q&A with him and the film’s producer, Catherine Hardwicke at the NYC Apple Store. He was latefor 15 minutes, but that was forgotten as soon as he said, “Hello.” Fans -were disappointed — as was I — that chose to cover his signature tousled tresses with a grey beanie.

Well, here’s waitin’ for Twilight to hit theaters on November 21.

Batman Vs. Iron Man

The Iron Man dvd was released just recently and I got to watch it again! And I still feel the same way about it - just like how I felt the first time I watched it. Awesome!!!

The Dark Knight has grossed over $984,874,072 worldwide in 76 days with a budget of $185 M. It’s now at number #4 at the all time worldwide box office grosses after Titanic, The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King and Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man’s Chest.

In 153 days and with a budget of $140 M, Iron Man grossed over $ 571,838,825. Not bad for a new player. You go Hef, er, I mean Stan Lee!

So, who wins?

Coolness: Apples and Oranges

Movie: Iron Man hands down

Costume: They’re both stiff, and Batman wins, but melts during the day. Thank goodness they don’t wear their underwear out of the tights anymore! Hear that Superman?

Robert Downey Rules!

Rating:

3 for Batman

5 for Iron Man
