I went to South Africa and did this wonderful three part series on the AIDs epidemic.

I went to El Salvador and covered the earthquakes.

I was living in Boston, so there wasn't very much I could do in the Hollywood arena.

I think people think we're all sipping martinis by the pool.

The thing that people don't know about Channel One is that it's very much on the level of a CNN, but for teenagers.

You have your managers, your agents, your lawyers, your publicists, and your colleagues that you have to coordinate things with.

Maria Menounos 

One of the first things I did was interview the President of the United States. Some people work their whole lives and can't interview someone of that stature. 

So for me, anything that has to do with animals, and I'm a happy camper. 

So most of my acting experience came in college when I was living away from them. I acted in various independent films, and I got some commercial work and stuff like that. 

Someone I've always really admired and respected was Oprah. It was great to see that someone was forging the same ground I always wanted to forge, where I could be a part of a movie, be a host, be entrepreneurial… she kind of represents that total package that I've always wanted to be. 

That's why charity work is very selfish at the same time, because it makes you feel good. 

The odd thing is, I don't consider what I do work, because it's what I love. But it is also an enormous amount of pressure, and you have to work an enormous amount of hours.
