A Mature America

How old is America Ferrera, 24? The zebra print Oscar de la Renta dress is a beauty but I would like to see it on Cate Blanchett. Somehow America looks a bit mature in that dress with pointy pumps and that’s not a good thing.

America Ain’t So Ugly

Season 3 of “Ugly Betty” started to seem like it was going nowhere and was boring me to bits– even with Lindsay Lohan’s short stint — until recently, with Grant Bowler joining the cast. His character, Conner Owens, is caught in an interesting “love square” with  Wilhemina (Vanessa Williams), Daniel Meade (Eric Mabius), and Molly (Sarah LaFleur). We’re all rooting for Daniel, but wonder why he’d like to end up with a Plain Jane like Molly, despite her goody-two-shoes and spunkiness. Betty (America Ferrera) has more appeal, especially since she got into YETI (young editors training, institute — showing her character’s potential growth in the series), along with fellow editorial assistant Mark (Michael Urie).  Forming a new allegiance, will  that leave Amanda  (Becki Newton) out of the loop? Then again, she does room in now with Betty and shows she can make Betty’s uuugly fashion choices into something fab. Me thinks I’ll continue watching the rest of the season, after all.

Once You Go Black

America Ferrera loves wearing black on red carpet events and even when she wore this multi-colored Oscar de la Renta Pre-fall Collection 2008 dress, she had to incorporate black somewhere. Did she roll over in tar before going to the event?

Must Have Been Real Ugly at Betty’s for Lindsay

Lindasy Lohan may have been the star of the movie “Mean Girls”, but she might have just been the victim of a meaner one at the Ugly Betty set.

The New York Post’s Page Six column claims that after some indecent behavior — possibly including the scene wherein Betty tugs down her high-school nemesis’ trousers — Lohan was abruptly booted rom her guest-star turn, which was supposed to last six episodes.

A pal of Lohan’s argues that Ugly Better star America Ferrera, is drunk on power and “was mean to Lindsay” and “got her kicked off” the last two episodes she was supposed to film. Ferrera’s spokesperon, though, would only tell the press that, “America is grateful to have had [Lindsay] on the show and thinks everyone should tune in to see how great the episodes [resuming this Thursday at 8 pm/ET] are.”

If you would believe that other online accounts of the alleged on-set squabble, it has been reported that not only was Lohan’s visit cut, but that she is being edited out of anything that already had been filmed. Imagine that!

Credible sources tell TVGuide.com that “editing” rumors are completely untrue, but confirm that Lohan’s run will end early, although strictly for “storyline purposes.”

Lohan’s publicist, Leslie Sloane Zelnick, has yet to respond to comment on this juicy newsbit.

The Best and Bust of the 2008 Emmy Awards

These three women make me want to laugh and cry at the same time, it’s hysterical! Hayden P.  tries way too hard, give up the I’m-so-hot act! Not yet, little girl, not yet.

America Ferrera’s vintage dress is supposed to bring back old glamour. I can’t seem to find what they are talking about. Put that dress on somebody else, I might consider it! Is glamour hiding underneath that dress?

Kate Walsh looks like she got caught up in a twister and survived. What a catastrophe!

Paris Vs. America

And you thought we were referring to something else. Isn’t it nice that we can name kids with countries, states, cities or some cute name like Pilot Inspektor! Jason Lee was probably just joking.

America’s flirty black and white strapless number by DVF is something I can imagine Cameron Diaz should be wearing. And her white shoes doesn’t stand out, it got lost in all those stripes. As for Paris, she went to the safe side in her black dress. Cute but not really when you wore it silver pumps. What’s wrong with your toes Paris? Why don’t you expose them a little bit. They need to breathe you know?!

While America Ferrera is all set for a comeback on small screen with her hit TV series Ugly Betty, she'll also be doing her share of charity by hosting an AIDS charity event.

According to an exclusive revelation by Usmagazine.com, the Emmy Award-winning actress would be presenting the third annual Hot in Hollywood charity event in LA.

The returns from the event would be benefiting the AIDS Healthcare Foundation and Real Medicine, a disaster relief organization.

"I bought a table the first year with friends and had so much fun watching the performances. Performing in the second year was an honor and a ton of fun… I can't wait to host this year's event. This is a cause dear to my heart," Usmagazine.com quoted Ferrera, as saying.

Scheduled to be held on August 16 at Hollywood's Avalon nightclub, the gala would feature performances by A-list celebrities.

Aren't we a little too late for prom night? And the shoes, OMG! The shoes are way too casual for the fabric. The only thing that is right on track is that she got the right color for the clutch to go with the sucky outfit.

America In Tears

AMERICA FERRARA was so sad about filming the finale of the first season of UGLY BETTY, she burst into tears.

Ferrera's on-screen boss ERIC MABIUS - who plays Daniel Meade, the womanising editor-in-chief of fashion magazine Mode - admits the cast are so close, the shows leading lady couldn't bear the thought of their season break.

He says, "She is emotional but not in a neurotic way. She was genuinely moved to tears any time she thought of the first season ending, which was wonderful."

It took me some time to decide whether this gown was great or what and finally it boiled down to this. It definitely wasn't the cutest nor in my top 5 but it wasn't also in the bottom 5 hideous gowns. It's actually in limbo. It's an old style updated with a belt.

But the cobalt color is what made this Monique Lhuiller creation, um, (a little) tolerable to look at.
