Just a few years ago, the name Ben Affleck was associated with the pink diamond he gave J. Lo or the fact that he was saving the earth from an asteroid attack. Soon it was time for a magical career revamp, and the Beantown native surprised everyone by stepping behind the camera in a movie even his own wife Jennifer Garner brands as "deliciously good."

Adds Garner: "I mean it. It's not because I'm his wife. I want him to hire me!"

Ben Affleck, auteur? Yes. And a humble one at that. "Oh, I've learned quite a few things while directing my own movie. First of all, I don't know whether to thank all of my directors — or apologize to them," Affleck says. Other lessons? "I learned that a movie is about everyone on that set. And I also learned how hard it is to direct. I appreciate every part of the process now."

"Gone Baby Gone" is a crime thriller based on a novel of the same name by Dennis Lehane. Set in Boston, it stars Ben's brother Casey Affleck and Michelle Monaghan ("Mission: Impossible III") as private investigators searching for a 4-year-old girl who has been abducted in the rough Boston neighborhood of Dorchester. Along for the ride is Ed Harris and John Ashton as detectives with Morgan Freeman as the police chief.

By the way, what was it like to direct his baby bro? Affleck smiles and says, "It was horrible. Just horrible. No, just kidding. He's a great actor."

Rating: 4

There really wasn't something at the VMA red carpet that can make you drool or lust for but this has been one of, or if not the best look on Garner. She is in perfect shape and very pretty in her Temperley mini dress. Although less glossier silver sandals would have been a better choice.

I love these metallic leather sandals on that cute little Garner number.
