Hollywood’s most iconic Catwoman, Julie Newmar, believes that Angelina Jolie is best suited for the role once she gets back in shape.
Newmar tells the New York Daily News, “Angelina would own the part. My industry friends tell me (she) has made inquiries about the role. I can understand how it would pique her interest. Catwoman is Batman’s one true love. She’s tremendously popular with women because she’s both a heroine and a villainess.”
But according to the publication, the film’s writers Jonathan Nolan and David Goyer recently said that there are no plans yet to resurrect Batman’s slinky adversary.
Newmar, 74, first appeared as the feline villain in 1966 in the Batman television series. In 1992, Michelle Pfeiffer took over the task of sporting the skintight outfit, while Halle Berry captured the public’s admiration in 2004’s Catwoman.
