Wecome to Tina’s World

Tina Fey

I honestly think I'm not working any harder than any working mom anywhere else, I'm at least getting to work on things that are exciting and fun.

I had to get back to work, NBC has me under contract. The baby and I only have a verbal agreement."

It's just so gratifying to see her poop! You never thought your whole day would be hinged on someone else pooping. The other day I got a booger out of her nose with a Q-tip, and it was so satisfying. It was the best thing I had done all day!

Never punch a girl in the boob, or she will kick you in the nards.

It's an honor to be anywhere, actually, and a deep, deep privilege to be wearing a bra and shoes.

I've built a man's life for myself.

Rating: 2

Let's face it, the woman can write and definitely can act - she's a natural! But she needs talent in hiring a better stylist not only for the SAG awards (when she was up for a nomination and won!) but for other big events. How can one show up at the red carpet literally wearing a rag? The little black dress didn't do the trick Tina!

Paging Ellen

Posted by Mean Critic
jsw_ellen-page-02.jpg

Young actress Ellen Page is overwhelmed by her Oscar nomination for her starring role in Juno - calling the experience "surprising" and "humbling".

The 20-year-old, who plays a pregnant teenager in the movie, is shortlisted in the Best Actress category at next month's Academy Awards and admits the news came as a complete shock.

She tells MTV.com, "We were coming from Paris on the train and just getting to London when I heard. It was exciting.

"Winning awards was something I was trying to keep out of my mind (but) it's a surprise and very humbling. It just blew me away."

Page insists the film's screen writer Diablo Cody was always confident that she would receive a nod for the part.

She adds, "She (Cody) texted me when the Oscar nominations came out saying: 'I told you so.'"

Page will take on Cate Blanchett, Julie Chritie, Marion Cotillard and Laura Linney for the award at the prestigious ceremony.

Rating: 1

When one is nominated for something (big or small) at least show up in a gown that shows your appreciation for the nod. This isn't really the time to go like you are just going to a premiere night or having dinner with friends.

What can we say about Rebecca's hideous lacey number? The woman behind Rebecca says it all. Yeah, we know, like why? Is she melting or something?

We dig the animal print halter dress, but not fierce enough for the red carpet. More like a party dress to us.

Jamie Lynn Sigler

Her heritage is Cuban, Jewish-American and Greek.

Originally, HBO wanted to replace Sigler with a blonde after the first four episodes, but it was deemed too expensive to re-shoot all of those scenes.

Battled an eating disorder in the late 1990s while starring on the Sopranos.

"I have no Italian in me. I'm in Cuban, Romanian, and Sephardic Jew, so I couldn't get further from Italian. But I guessed I've been adopted into the family, too.

A few years ago, she was paralyzed from the waist down for several days with Lyme Disease. Her recovery has given her a fresh outlook on her work and her life.

We know you've got sparking white teeth but did you really have to honor your toothpaste by dressing as one. It's definitely not a breath of fresh air.

Cate: Acting Made Her Less Neurotic

Posted by Mean Critic
jsw_cate-blanchett-01.jpg

Elizabeth star Cate Blanchett walked down the red carpet showing off her pregnancy bump at the Santa Barbara International Film festival and said motherhood has made her a better actor.

Pagesix.com quoted her as saying: "In a way, for me, having children has made me much more focussed and less neurotic as an actor. You just don't have the time to do what I previously thought was preparation but is just anxiety. It did take that neurosis away for me."

The actress, who is married to playwright and screenwriter Andrew Upton and has two kids with him, is pregnant with her third child. She received the Modern Master award at Santa Barbara.

Rating: 2

Cate wears a strapless black number to conceal the bump and it's a success. But the fabric could be beautiful too on wall paper, pillowcase, curtains…

Vanessa on Posh

jsw_vanessa-williams-03.jpg

UGLY BETTY star VANESSA WILLIAMS is desperate to land Victoria Beckham a recurring role on the hit show - insisting she didn't behave like a diva on set. The actress, who plays ruthless fashion queen Wilhelmina Slater in the series, believes the Spice Girl would be the perfect addition to the series, because her cameo performance last year (07) was "phenomenal". TV executives are considering creating a permanent position on the show for Beckham after being impressed by the star's comedic turn as herself. Williams rubbished rumours that the former Spice Girl is difficult to work with and travels accompanied by a huge entourage. The 44-year-old says, "Victoria Beckham was fabulous. When she shot my (Wilhelmina Slater's) wedding episode she worked all day. "She wore fuzzy little clothes and she didn't bring in her own team for make-up or anything. She worked hard and wasn't a diva at all. I thought her appearance was phenomenal actually."

Rating: 2

The SAG Awards was just filled with one disaster to another like everybody was vying for the most boring outfit. But yellow is a refreshing color on the red carpet when you have a handful of celebrities that went metallic.

Marcia Gets Desperate

Posted by Mean Critic
jsw_marcia-cross-02.jpg

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES star MARCIA CROSS has urged the U.S. Congress to pass a new bill to prevent women who undergo mastectomies from being discharged hours after surgery. Cross joined protestors on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday (23Jan08) to lobby the government to approve the Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act of 2007, which will allow women the choice of recuperating in hospital for up to 48 hours after having a mastectomy. She says, "It's such a simple bill that it's hard for me to understand why it's been languishing in Congress for 10 years. "When they told me about it, I just said, 'What's the problem?'" The actress, 45, admits the cause is one close to her heart because she has friends who have survived breast cancer - and she can't believe how women suffering from the disease are forced to go home the same day after losing a breast. She adds, "I tried to imagine losing a foot and then (people) saying, 'OK, now go home.' … It's just really unfathomable." But Cross is positive their lobbying will be successful: "I feel very optimistic that maybe that Congress has shifted a bit, that health care is more in the forefront, that maybe, you know, this is the moment."

Rating: 2

It's hard to be excited about gown you always see on every red carpet and what Marcia is wearing is one of it. It's like going to a department store and you have racks and racks of the same dress. Frustrating, ey?

Amanda on Heath

Posted by Mean Critic
jsw_amanda-bynes-02.jpg

"I don't know what happened with Heath Ledger; none of us really know," shrugged Amanda Bynes, "Hairspray" nominee. "I was a huge fan of Heath Ledger. I loved him in '10 Things I Hate About You' and 'Brokeback Mountain,' so I was devastated. I didn't know him at all, but I was a huge fan of his. It was shocking. I'm really sad that he's gone; I can't believe he's not here anymore. I still wanted to see what he had to offer. It seemed like he still had so many years left as an actor, and I just wanted to watch him. I'm really, really sad." - Amanda Bynes

Rating: 2

Amanda is princess like in this teal Marchesa number. Yeah, if she only stayed in the tower where we can only get to see the lovely bejeweled bodice. The rest of it is forgettable.

Infuential America

jsw_america-ferrara-01.jpg

America Ferrera, star of ABC's award-winning series Ugly Betty, is firmly backing up presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton by assuming an active role as the national co-chairman of “HillBlazers,” the presidential campaign's youth outreach program.

"This election is too important to stand on the sidelines, especially for my generation," the Ugly Betty actress told People.  "I believe that Hillary Clinton can turn this country around.  I am confident she will be a champion for young women and men across the country."

Ferrera, who made her feature film debut in Real Women Have Curves, has established herself a solid following with her role as Betty Suarez on Ugly Betty.  For her role on the series, she has won the 2007 Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Comedy or Musical, beating out fellow nominees Marcia Cross, Felicity Huffman, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Mary-Louise Parker.  As a result of the award, she has been recognized by the U.S. House of Representatives for being a role model for young Hispanics.  She has also been chosen by Time Magazine as of the top artists and entertainers in last year's “Time 100: The Most Influential People In The World” issue.

Meanwhile, the Ugly Betty actress isn't the only young female celebrity who is currently endorsing the former First Lady of the United States.  Amber Tamblyn, who is known for her role on Joan of Arcadia and who also co-stars with Ferrera in the film sequel of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, has also assumed the role of national co-chairman of Clinton's youth campaign.  In fact, Ferrera, 23 and Tamblyn, 24, are expected to be in Las Vegas as part of this Saturday's Nevada assembly.

Tamblyn considers Clinton as "the only candidate who has the experience to bring about change.”
Returning the compliments, Clinton said she was "honored" to receive the young actresses' support.

America is wearing just yards and yards of lace and that's really all there is to it. It's not pretty, it looks dead and is so dated.
